About Genelia

What is Genelia?

Genelia is an Indian community news site that gives editorial controls to the people who use it.

Genelia does not host any content on the site. All Genelia stories are short descriptions which point to the original content elsewhere on the web. Bloggers and other users use Genelia as a platform to reach out to fellow Indians. They do it by posting their original story link or commenting on the posted stories.

Genelias rate the posted stories by stamping on them.

What are Stamps?  How does it help to promote stories and/or submissions to homepage?

You give the "stamp" of approval for the postings you like. The number of stamps received by the submission gives an indication of "hotness" of the story. All of the content on Genelia is from users who are rewarded for good submissions by their peers. So, if you like a story, help stamp it and help others get the story.Hot stories are always on the home page.

Remember the following:
  • Hot displays the latest hot news.
  • New displays you the latest news
  • Browse displays the all time best news.

What type of stories can I submit?

Almost anything on the Internet can be submitted. We want Genelia to be the source for everything that's new on the web that interests we Indians: provided it can be linked, it can be submitted and work-safe.

How to get my submissions noticed?

You must have a catching title for your submission to bring your peers to the site and then a summary, a meaningful description attracting user's interest.

How to rate comments submitted by users?

Click Up for the comments you like and you can click down for the comments you dislike. By clicking down a comment you can cause the comment to be hidden.

How do you determine stamps of stories submitted?

Each time you promote by stamping story, it brings closer to the homepage. On the other hand, demoting by not stamping a story pushes it further down into void. A story's stamps indicates the number of users who liked it.

How are "Genelias" ranked?

When a particular item is promoted by stamping the user who posted is recognized; this is part of editorial karma sorting system.

In the same way that popular submissions are stamped to the top, the individuals who post them get increases in karma e.g. mantra (100) – user mantra has 100 karma. Every Genelia affects one another's karma in the same way, irrespective of his/her karma. This Karma system delivers the public with the information they sought and/or demand while also recognizing those who made submissions.

How do I accumulate karma?

The Formula is to make good submissions continuously and constantly and this considered the easiest and most effective way. Submissions will be popular if those are wanted and read by other people. In other words, those Genelias who best understand and foresee what people want to be reading and will apparently be the best rewarded.

Why Do I try to accumulate karma?

If you don't already know, its worth reading Karma's definition

Karma in Genelia is established in such a way that you will be rated among your fellow Genelias in order to obtain the distinctive rights.

Can anyone submit?

You can submit if you are registered. Submissions are the nerve center activity of Genelia system; it works at its best when people contribute submissions to it. Your Karma increases when making contributions supposed to be valuable by your fellow Genelias and will subsequently heighten your rank.

When Genelias click on the my submitted story title, they are directed to story content page, but the browser URL still points to Genelia. Does that mean Genelia hosts my blog content ?

No. As a policy, Genelia does not host any content. When Genelias click on your story title, they are actually directed to your blog/site URL. You can verify this by using tools like Google Analytics . The top frame bar is added for the ease of Genelias to navigate other related stories posted on Genelia.

A Top Frame bar is being appeared whenever I click on Genelia story titles. Why?

When Genelias click on the story title, they are directed to the site hosting the content. The top frame bar is retained for the ease of Genelias to navigate other related stories posted on Genelia.
